For those who want to spend a pleasant and carefree day with the whole family, here is the news of Cima Piazzi Happy Mountain
What to do in Bormio with children is one of the most frequently asked questions.
In addition to the countless sports and recreational activities in contact with nature, since 2019, our territory boasts a novelty, unique in Lombardy: the Family Bob.
The name itself already guarantees fun for the whole family.
Often, to please our children, we have to put aside what we adults like and enjoy: not with the Family Bob.
Do you want to receive personalised information on what to do in Bormio with children?
What is the Family Bob?
The Family Bob is a rail bobsled that arose in the Cima Piazzi Happy Mountain ski area in Valdidentro, a few kilometres from Bormio, on the road to Livigno.
Adults and children can try their hand at these 600 meters of exciting descent on a bobsled, anchored to a rail, in complete safety.
For the quiet ascent: you sit comfortably on the bobsleigh, and thanks to an automated rise in not even two minutes, you are at the starting point for fun all downhill.
This brand new bob on rail is full of breathtaking panoramic parabolic curves. These, taken at top speed, will give you unforgettable emotions.
Where’s the Family Bob?
The only rail bobsleigh in Lombardy is located in Valdidentro, a few kilometres from Bormio. From here, take the cable car of the Cima Piazzi Happy Mountain ski area, and in a few minutes, you will arrive at the Family Bob.
The Family Bob is open both during the summer and winter seasons. It is easily accessible to everyone: parents with young children, strollers, grandparents and non-skiers.
Who can use it?
One of the reasons we recommend it to all those who ask what to do in Bormio with children is precisely the fact that it is an attraction for everyone.
Every child, at least four years old, will be able to use it: for the little ones, there is an obligation to do it with an adult, while for the older ones, at least 120 cm high, they can try their hand at it themselves.
But you know what we’re going to tell you? Our kids prefer doing it together with us. It is precisely this sharing of the experience that makes the Family Bob unique.
As soon as you get to the top and start the descent, it feels slow, but then, the speed increases as you move forward. The wind in the hair, the screams, and the forest trees that flow fast alongside make even the most serious ones become children again!
In short, the Family Bob is pure emotion, a lot of carefreeness, fun for everyone and a pinch of adrenaline! Adrenaline is that magical and indispensable element that makes even those who have already tried it several times always want to do at least one more ride!
A child-friendly area
The visit to the Family Bob is also highly recommended for everything around it…
In Winter, Cima Piazzi Happy Mountain is a destination enormously appreciated by families with young skiers. They can take their first steps in the snow or perfect themselves without giving up thickets and jumps.
The ski area, thanks to the gentle slopes, is remarkably safe even on the busiest days. Here, the little ones will find an educational space to approach alpine skiing and a large school field to learn in complete safety.
On the other hand, the older ones can have fun with mom and dad or with friends running through magical and fun slopes and groves.
In summer, however, after a ride on the Family Bob, we recommend a little relaxation with pleasant walks in the adjacent woods or a fantastic MTB tour to the Fort of Oga!
Don’t miss a tasty stop at rifugio Conca Bianca in both seasons, and let yourself be delighted by the culinary proposals of self-service or bar and sandwich place.
